Description
The development of public works is a complex process that involves extensive discussions, debates, and diligent efforts before any construction can commence. A prime example of this is the Cincinnati Union Terminal, which was the result of thirty-five years of meticulous planning followed by nearly four years of actual construction. It wasn’t until this lengthy process was completed that the citizens of Cincinnati could finally appreciate the beauty of their remarkable Art Deco building. The story delves into the rail transportation difficulties that Cincinnati faced in the late 19th century and how these challenges were addressed over the course of thirty-five years. This prolonged timeline ultimately allowed for the terminal’s construction to provide some relief to local families who were struggling during the Great Depression. Additionally, the innovative design of the terminal later served as an inspiration for several modern airports. The book is enriched with over 250 photographs, many of which have never been published before, offering a unique insight into the vast scale of this significant project.
